Neanderthal

Lyrics
Voice: "If you want to live the world that you like, you need to get up and say something. You know? So that's definitely the end of my rant."
Voice: "People don't make their voice heard."

Humans aren't fun
When you're like one of us
From humans you're shunned
When you're like one of us
They yell at me
Cast stones at me
They laugh at me
Throw blades at me

I hate those so-called human beings
I hate those so-called human beings
Them with their smaller brains, ridge-less eyes,
Violent minds, button nose, social lives
They think they are wise

Humans aren't ones
That you could joke around with
They think we are dumb
They think they have such a wit
They step on me
They steal from me
Talk back at me
And lie to me

Voice: "I think we're just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Humans look down
Especially if they are smaller
They spit on the ground
They think it will make them tall
How I hope that they
Will go away
I'll see that day
I'm here to stay

I hate those so-called human beings
I hate those so-called human beings
Devoid of humanity, turn away from those in need, surviving on their acts of greed.
Pathetic indeed.

Notes
After the release of their first album, Sound Check, the band was clearly in a mood to move on to bigger and better things. "Neanderthal" was a remarkable step forward considering that it was written and recorded only a few weeks after finishing Sound Check. Originally released in the fall of 2002, "Neanderthal" is the earliest recorded track on Sunny Ash, but it was augmented by a drum/vocal effects track in summer 2003. Inspiration for the lyrics came from a National Geographic article about Neanderthals.
