Radio
Lyrics
Silence that you hear;
people disappear
Gazing at your list of names
And no one’s one of them; you’re not one of them
You don’t mind; the space is calming
Haunted rooms of old; air is getting cold
Gazing at your broken mirror
Tingling down the spine, then you drew the line
It’s all right; the fracture's healing
And radio wakes up from its dream
And radio wakes up from the scream
No one’s here at all; frame hangs on the wall
Gazing at the empty ceiling
We thought you were there, looking at the chair
For a while I saw you searching
But what am I supposed to do?
We’re still alone and blue
I’m still alone with you
Pictures in your eye looking quite alive
Spinning around the somber ground
And please don’t walk away; please don’t look away
Don’t you know how fast you’re turning?
Now the time is here; no one disappears
Hiding’s going out of style
So let them take the show; set them on the road
Don’t look up the rain is falling
And radio wakes up from its dream
And radio wakes up from the scream
And radio wakes up from its dream
And radio wakes up from the scream |
Notes
In January
2003, the band got together to record their next serious song.
"Radio" was a waltz with a sound and arrangement not
unlike "Lucy" and "Refrain," but alas, the
band was not up to the challenge at the time. At least some valuable
lessons were learned by all. Steven and Mark revived the song
during a jam session in spring 2003, converting it to 4/4 time.
The band will probably try recording it again in the future. |
